Senator Shehu Sani(Kaduna Central) has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The human rights activist who has had a running battle with Governor Nasir El-Rufai wrote the Chairman, APC, Ward 6, Tudun Wada North, Kaduna, to announce his resignation as a member of the party

Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, says President Muhammadu Buhari directed him to initiate the recall of Shehu Sani, senator representing Kaduna central district, over acts of contempt and disloyalty. In the letter, Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai listed the ‘compendium’ of sins committed by Shehu Sani against him, the president and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A key segment of the party led by the National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has asked Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to stand down his second term bid or face impeachment. The threat to impeach the governor is an escalation of pressure being piled on him to drop his quest for second term.
Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said: “She had issues that have to do with party loyalty. Our constitution is clear and it dictates that to contest elections or even hold office in the APC, you must be loyal to the party in every material concern.
“From all she had said in the past and even her comments and general attitude during the screening, the NWC reviewed everything taken together and we arrived at the conclusion that she does not possess the level of loyalty the APC requires for her to contest elections on our platform.”
Aisha Alhassan, famously known as Mama Taraba has been disqualified from running for the governorship seat of the state by the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress. Her disqualification was made known today in a statement listing all the governorship aspirants taking part in the direct and indirect primaries of the party on Friday.
Teneo Intelligence, a New York-based analysis firm, says the Osun state governorship election has shown that President Muhammadu Buhari could lose in 2019. “A second term for Mr Buhari however raises the risk of limited economic progress and further fiscal deterioration, prolonging the stagnation of his first term, particularly if there is no move towards completing reform of the exchange rate system or fiscal adjustments that diversify government revenues away from oil,” the report read.
The All Progressives Congress appears not to be losing sleep over the reported defection of Speaker Yakubu Dogara from its fold to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, where he came from. All Progressives Congress Says: “We would advise Dogara against his ill-advised decision to recontest his House of Representatives seat under the opposition Party he is linked with because a crushing and humiliating defeat surely awaits him.”
