The number of high-precision cruise missiles in the Russian army since 2012 has increased by more than 30 times, and the number of their carriers is more than 12 times.
This was announced on Tuesday by Russian Minister of Defense Army General Sergei Shoigu at the opening of an operational mobilization gathering with the leadership of the armed forces.
“At an accelerated pace, we are equipping land, air and sea-based high-precision long-range weapons. The number of its carriers has increased by more than 12 times since 2012, and high-precision cruise missiles – by 30 [times]. The time for preparing flight missions has been reduced from one and a half months to three hours, ” the minister said.
He also recalled that modern military equipment, created on the basis of digital technologies and with elements of artificial intelligence, began to enter the troops, and weapons systems based on new physical principles are already on alert.
“In the process of combat training, personnel are actively mastering robotic systems and unmanned aerial vehicles, the use of which significantly increases the combat effectiveness of troops,” added Shoigu.
The head of the military department recalled that in 2019 alone, the armed forces were replenished with more than 6.5 thousand units of new and modernized weapons.
In total, by the end of 2020, in accordance with the May decree of the President of Russia, the share of modern weapons in the troops will be more than 70% and will continue to be maintained at this level.
