Americans’ approval of President Joe Biden has remained mostly steady, with a solid majority favoring the job he is doing in office.

A Gallup poll found that 56% of Americans approve of Biden, a slight uptick from the 54% who said the same in Gallup’s poll last month.

The poll found that 42% of Americans disapprove of the job Biden is doing as commander in chief, also a slight uptick of 2 percentage points from May’s poll.

The poll was taken earlier this month when Biden met with foreign leaders on his first trip to Europe as president.

Biden has near-perfect approval from Democrats, at 95%, as well as a majority among independents.

However, among Republicans, just 11% approve of Biden as president.

Women are more likely to approve of him, 65% compared to 47% of men. Similarly, more non-white Americans, 74%, approve of him than white Americans, 48%.

While Americans may be in favor of the president, their rating of Congress is less favorable. The poll found that the approval rating of congress slipped 5 percentage points since Gallup’s poll last month to 26%. That is the lawmaking body’s lowest approval rating since January.

The drop can partly be attributed to a sharp decline in support from Democrats. While 54% of Democrats approved of Congress last month, just 38% said the same in Gallup’s most recent poll.
